Lia Morris is the Chief Executive Officer of Marine and Safety Tasmania, a statutory authority responsible for the safe operation of vessels in Tasmania and the provision and maintenance of marine facilities.
Lia holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree and a Master of Town Planning. Lia’s career has been varied, starting as a Town Planner, followed by eight years with the Housing Industry Association and culminating as its National Senior Executive Director. She then worked for five years as State Manager for property developer Walker Corporation and was appointed to her current role in 2011.
During her career, Lia has served on public sector boards and was an inaugural member of the now Tasmanian Planning Commission (formerly the Resource Planning & Development Commission) that oversees Tasmania’s planning system.
Lia is a member of the Fahan School Alumni (leaver 1983) as are her two daughters, Alice (2012) and Georgia (2014).
