Fahan School offers an innovative Pre-Kinder program for girls and boys aged 3 - 5 years.

Fahan School offers an innovative Pre-Kinder program for girls and boys aged 3 - 5 years run in partnership with Lady Gowrie Tasmania.

Adopting the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood learning, in keeping with Fahan and Lady Gowrie's Early Childhood learning philosophies, Pre-Kinder at Fahan incorporates fun and educationally sound activities including music, art, storytelling and movement, as well as excursions in and around the Hobart area.

This unique program operates on the Fahan School grounds so that children have access to Fahan facilities, such as the Travers Morphett Junior Library, play equipment, gardens and the Early Learning Centre Artist-In-Residence. They also participate, where possible, in Junior School activities including taking advantage of visiting specialists and the annual Book Week festivities.  The Pre-Kinder program is designed and implemented by qualified, experienced and dedicated educators from Lady Gowrie Tasmania and staff ratios, which are above the minimum standard, ensure the needs of all children in the program are met.

The Pre-Kinder program operates from 8am – 6pm weekdays.
There is some choice in care sessions, however. You may also opt for the 8am – 3pm session.

To enquire about the program please phone Fahan School on +61 3 6225 1064 or email for more information.

National Quality Framework

The National Quality Framework (NQF) was the result of an agreement between all Australian governments to work together to provide better educational and developmental outcomes for children.

The NQF includes:

·       The National Law and Regulations

·       The National Quality Standards

·       Assessment and Quality Rating Process

·       National Learning Frameworks

The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) oversees the implementation of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and works with the state authorities to implement and administer the NQF.

Fahan and Lady Gowrie's Pre-Kinder have a service approval that has been issued by the Department of Education Child Care Unit. As the regulatory authority, the Department of Education, through the Education and Care Unit undertake an Assessment and Rating process, to assess the quality of the service.
